AI essay writer built for essays you can defend
Give it your essay question, type, and word count, and get a structured outline with section targets and the questions each section must answer. Then, in the workspace, draft section by section from real academic sources with citations placed as you write. Try the outline generator below, free, no account.
What this is, and what it refuses to be
Type “write my essay” into most AI tools and you get 1,500 fluent words with invented references and no connection to your course materials. Submitting that fails you three ways: markers recognize sourceless generic prose instantly, fabricated citations are checkable in seconds, and you learn nothing you can use in the exam.
This essay writer works the way a good writing tutor does. It helps you decompose the question, structure an argument, find sources that actually exist, and draft from those sources with the citation trail intact. Two rules are enforced in the product, not just promised on this page. First, every citation must trace to a real source you saved from an academic database; when a claim has no source behind it, the draft marks it “source needed” instead of inventing one. Second, sections that require your own analysis, evaluation, or position are locked to you: the AI won’t draft them, and export waits until you’ve written them.
The result is a draft you can defend in a viva, a follow-up question, or a conversation with your marker, because you built the argument and you know where every claim came from.
From question to submitted essay
- Outline. The tool above turns your question into a structure: introduction, the body sections your question type demands, conclusion, with word targets per section and the analytical sections flagged as yours.
- Research. In the workspace, search OpenAlex, Crossref, and Semantic Scholar; save the papers worth using. Every saved source is a real, openable record.
- Draft. Generate one section at a time from your outline and saved sources. Rewrite, regenerate with instructions, or write it yourself in the same editor.
- Cite. In-text citations and the reference list in APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, or IEEE, rebuilt automatically from what you actually cited.
- Check. Rubric review, writing quality flags, similarity check against your sources, and a reference check for mismatches.
- Export. Word, Markdown, or text, with the reference list formatted, once your own sections are written.
Essay types it knows
Argumentative and discursive essays, case study analyses, literature reviews, reflective essays (where the reflection itself is locked to you, since a generated reflection is a contradiction), compare and contrast, and report formats with executive summaries. Each type changes the outline it proposes, because a literature review isn’t an argument essay with a different title.
